How to improve your study skills
Do you feel that time is not enough? Are you doing
what you should be doing? Your performance at your work, school or college is
not what you expect?
If you answer yes to this questions, maybe you’re a
procrastinating person. But, don’t get worried, here you will find some ideas
to improve your study skills and become in the discipline person that you want
to be.
1. Schedule your homework.
It´s very important to have a specific amount of time
for every
activity and homework that you have to do. Organize them in delivery
order and importance order, in that way you always have your daily task.
2. Practice your skills in everyday life.
If you’re learning another language, try to speak more
every day, or if you’re learning to cooking, dancing or playing some instrument…
practice. Search songs in that language; make the dinner once a week; dance in
your room and play your instrument at least one a week. Always try to
incorporate your new skills in your life.
3. Don´t be afraid of being wrong.
Many times we don´t do things to improve our study
skills because we have been wrong before. Let it that in the past and start to practice.
It’s normal that when you don’t know something, it could be boring and heavy at
the beginning but later it will be a custom and even could be fun.
4. Don´t procrastinate.
Do everything in its time and place. As the saying
goes: “Do not put off until tomorrow what
you can do today”.
5. Study with a partner.
Studying with someone else could be a big help to
motivate one to another. Some people don’t like it, but also is a way to
improve your social skills. Try to keep your mind open, because in that way,
it´s sure that you and your new friend, are going to make all your works on
time.
6. Give yourself a reward.
A reward is always a good reason to continue the work
of improving your study skills. You could buy to you a gift, an ice cream or
give you a time of something that you really enjoy like a walk, a movie or a
party with your friends.
